F-ocused L-earning for Y-oung E-ager R-eaders
TIME
We are happy to inform you of an exciting program Fairview Elementary will be conducting this year. Fairview School believes in providing the highest quality education for every student. To meet this goal, we are implementing FLYER Time. FLYER Time stands for Focused Learning for Young Eager Readers. This thirty minute time period from 1:20 to 1:50, will be utilized to focus on small group reading instruction. Teachers will use different reading strategies and enrichment activities within the content areas to address student needs. Students who are advanced will be given opportunities to challenge themselves as well as participate in exploratory activities. Students who are not progressing at a rate to meet end of year benchmarks, will be provided interventions matched to their needs. All students will be assigned a teacher for this program. The teacher may not be one of their regular teachers but will have the resources needed and will be knowledgeable of the objectives they are teaching. We will also be utilizing all teachers in all grades, so your child may have a teacher that teaches in a different grade, an elective, or even a special education class. Data from this and a variety of other sources will help us provide students with the best instruction. Information from assessments will guide instruction and keep the school and you aware of how your child is progressing.
The teachers at Fairview School recognize that all students learn differently. We are committed to helping all students succeed. Therefore, we ask for your support in implementing FLYER Time to meet the academic needs of your child along with all students in our school.
We look forward to sharing additional information as we progress through the school year.
